1,2. Neighborhood Art on Wheels 2008
Responses to the question, “Where do you call home?” part of a collaborative project with the Lyndale Neighborhood Organization in Minneapolis. The goal was to create understanding between Somalis and Latinos in the Horn Towers, where the projection took place. For this phase of the Lyndale collaboration, a slide show was created by photographing residents at a community celebration and asking them to respond to the question, Where do you call home?, the resulting pictures and answers were projected at this subsequent event.

3,4. I.C.E. (Intentional Conceptual Effort) Expedition on the frozen surface of Medicine Lake. 2009
Ten people and two dogs left from the Art Shanty Projects at the South end of the lake and headed north to the opposite end of the lake for an overnight stay on the ice in a tent constructed as an homage/critique of Daniel Buren. All expedition members constructed kick sleds or pulks (pull sleds) for transporting gear.

5. Teach Me Your Language 2009
Sign is placed in public area, sidewalk, empty lot, I wait for voluntary language teachers; has been used solely in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood. Project grew out of my realization that I was often around Somalis (in the University/ Cedar-Riverside neighborhood and my home) but did not know how to say anything in Somali. Has been extremely successful in engaging Somali residents in teaching and conversation.

6. If You Can’t Tie a Knot, Tie A Lot 2009
Created as a way for me to teach another kind of knowledge I have; how to tie knots. Sign goes on sidewalk etc. and I teach passers-by how to tie various knots. Stems from my interest in sharing knowledge that is outside our generally known fields of expertise.
